Monetarisme yaitu kecenderungan dalam pemikiran ekonomi yang menekankan peran pemerintah dalam mengemudikan jumlah uang beredar. Ini yaitu pandangan dalam ekonomi moneter bahwa variasi jumlah uang beredar memiliki pengaruh akbar pada output nasional dalam jangka pendek dan tingkat harga selama periode waktu semakin lama dan bahwa tujuan dari kebijakan moneter yang terbaik bertemu dengan menargetkan tingkat pertumbuhan jumlah uang beredar.^[1]
